Our Finalists 2019

Winner / Labtrino

Labtrino AB develops an intelligent water meter system for residential property owners that enables sub-metering cost-efficiently. The company’s Trinometer system uses machine learning to break down water usage data into outlets and diagnoses an entire homes water and hot water energy usage from a single, patent pending, non-invasive sensor. In our smartphone app, tenants then receive individually tailored nudges on how to efficiently lower usage, without sacrificing comfortability. The result is an up to 40% decrease in water usage on average, and as a result, an energy usage reduction of 8-16%, paving the way for a more sustainable and aware public and private residential real estate industry.

Runner-Up / TADA Medical

Too often, a medical tube is accidentally pulled and damaged, resulting in loss of medicine, patient injury and possibly death. The TADA connector was invented to keep the tube, patient and personnel safe. It disconnects when the tube is pulled, double valves keep blood and medicine from spilling, and you can easily clean and reconnect it again to rapidly reinstate therapy. Our connector is low-cost and mass producible, perfect for protecting the two billion tubes currently at risk of being pulled. We have a highly competent team and a patented solution to a massive global problem.

Second Runner-Up / Race.se

Race.se is a digital platform and community for endurance races where race participants, organizers and sponsors meet. We inspire more people to participate in races and we are a one stop shop for organizing endurance events. Race participants can find and register to races, gather results and get inspired through personalized features. For the race organizers we provide innovative solutions for administration, time keeping and communication. Our vision is that Race.se will be the go to place for the worlds endurance races.

Finalist / imagiLabs

imagiLabs makes coding fun for teenage girls. A community where girls between 12-16 get creative with mobile-first tools and gadgets customisable through programming. Powered by gamification, we aim to train and prepare tomorrow's leaders who will shape the future of innovation.

Finalist / Timber Exchange

The Timber Exchange is a B2B platform that digitizes business processes for Sawmills, Industrial-Buyers & Freight forwarders. The platform automates the most time-consuming processes facing companies today such as Trading, Logistics management, Tracking, Document Drafting & Analysis.

Finalist / Woshapp

To wash your car today is both inconvenient and inefficient and wastes a lot of water. Woshapp solves that by taking the car wash to you. Our certified car washers bike to your car and with the help of our innovative, eco-friendly nano formula we remove all dirt with only 0,3 liter per wash, instead of 150-500 liter per wash. Simple, smart and eco-friendly!

Ólafur Steindórsson
Partner

Ólafur Steindórsson specializes in M&A, IT & telecoms as well as general commercial contracts and corporate law matters, with particular focus on acquisitions, investments and start-up financing as well as IT outsourcing. Ólafur also has experience in providing day-today advice for start-up companies.

Valeria Hedman
Creative Director

Valeria Hedman is an award-winning designer known for producing strong and unique design with a specific focus on user engagement. Valeria’s work often leads a reflective dialogue from new perspectives and knowledge of diversity, equality, innovation and sustainability and she is constantly striving to develop processes and methods for how these can be transferred to the practice of visual communication and design.

Johan Siwers
General Partner and Investment Manager

Johan is a seasoned digital executive with a passion for entrepreneurial game changing technologies, practices and companies. Over the past 20 years+, he has been involved in breaking ground for a wide range of digital ventures within companies like Axel Johnson, Kinnevik, Spray, Schibsted and InterActive Corp (IAC).

From his position as General Partner with RECAPEX, Johan has been investing both time and money behind a wide range of initiatives, with a common thread being digital technologies transforming behavior and industries. Johan has been designated as one of Sweden's top tech investors by DI Digital.

Johan also is board member of Silicon Vikings Stockholm.

Therése Folkesson
Head of growth capital, east Sweden

Therése is in charge of recruiting new Investors and developing Connect's Investor network. She is also involved in the work of NordicBAN, where Connect is a founding partner together with other Nordic Investor Networks.

As a core member of the Connect team in Stockholm, Therése participates in screening and evaluating 100+ startups yearly applying to the Springboard Investment Readiness program and supports them throughout their work with Connect. She is looking for start-ups that have solid business cases and great potential for secondary business opportunities.

Joacim Scott
Head of Corporate Market SEB Norrmalm

Joacim heads the corporate department at SEB Norrmalm, which is the bank's largest corporate team in Sweden and is devoted to working with the corporate retail segment. Joacim has 20 years of banking experience from several different positions within SEB, both as a corporate advisor and different managerial positions.

Jenny Lindblad
CEO & Founder

Jenny Lindblad truly is a Pitch coach extraordinaire, Advisor and Mentor. She has advised more than 200 start-ups from all around the world on how to sharpen their pitch. She is the founder of ELIZA Communication, a specialist agency that focuses on creating powerful communication techniques for high-performance individuals, which will bring them success in game-changing situations. Jenny is also a mentor at the Founders Institute, a Partner at the Keiretsu Forum and a speaking coach for TEDx.

Jenny has a background from Ericsson where she delivered more than 5,000 presentations in five years for royalties, ministers, ambassadors, investors and lots of executives.

2019 Wistrand and SEB teamed up with Connect Sweden, The Park, Transfer Studio and Silicon Vikings to help launch the next Star on the Swedish Startup Scene.

Wistrand Startup Star is open for all entries - irrespective of industry - that define themselves as startups. We define it as newly-started companies with growth potential.
